                          Public Speaking Techniques

Let’s go on a different tack on this matter.  I’m sure everyone has had informational overload and exhaustive tips on public speaking techniques.  So, let’s take a different approach.  Is time important to you?  Be honest.  If you’re reading this section, it obviously is.  After all, time is money. Why spend it writing, rewriting, and memorizing a speech when you could simply dictate to a handheld tape recorder?  You can create a speech or presentation while driving. Then using the Ear Prompter, you can give your speech with the proper pauses, gestures, and cues upon arrival.  You can enjoy instant command over lines, along with direction of facial and body language—all without memorization.

Observe all the newscasters and talk show players have an observable pigtail wire behind their head, giving them a signal from a central booth or a programmed tape recorder. The reality is this is the way the press does it. Why not be with or ahead of the curve? Ear Promoters are now the state-of-the-art standard in the multimedia universe, whether it is on camera, audition monologue, public speaking, or live news.  Most importantly, eliminate the fear of public speaking in front of a large group.  With an Ear Prompter, you can leave your notes, stroll around and gesture.  A speaker becomes an instant authority on a subject without referring to notes.

But more now on the hands-on “public speaking techniques” that I have demonstrated for over 30 years. “Think & speak”.  Make your voice sound interesting by continually varying the pace, intensity, and pitch of your speech.  SMILE.  Learn to sing.  It helps to control and develop your voice.  I am including examples of some wonderful exercises to strengthen and develop your voice while, at the same time, improving and enhancing tonal quality, observe good posture, and articulate.  Work constantly for vocal development.  It will help you speak longer, using less power and saving your breath.  AVOID vocal fatigue.  “Public speaking techniques” would not be complete if they did not address MISPRONUNCIATIONS, or LEAKERS as we call them in voice-over.

Some examples can be found under the “Leakers” for sale at the Voice Store along with WAV files and CDs that demonstrate Public Speaking Techniques.
