                                 Voice Over Jobs

Most of the websites dealing with audio acting, narration, dubbing, commercial presentations, etc. are non-union. That is to say, the performers have no guarantees of working conditions, payment for their services, or health and retirement benefits.  The American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) is the foremost bargaining union for audio performers, not only in America, but internationally.  Voice Masters has been signatory producer/contractors with AFTRA for almost two decades.  We are able to use non-union performers for “voice-over jobs” on a one-time basis under the Taft/Hartley Act.  After that, the artist is obliged to apply for membership in AFTRA.

I can personally attest to many benefits of membership in AFTRA having been a member for over 40 years.  First, the guarantee of payment   working conditions   fees   residuals payments.   retirement and health benefits, and access to all AFTRA franchised agents. On a regular basis, the union provides casting notices and makes a dedicated effort to keep members and signatory producers aware of “voice-over jobs” and opportunities for employment in every related area.

We do not intend to denigrate the services of non-union actors and producers. They, too provide a function for casting, producing, and developing “voice-over jobs.” Some of our excellent audio directors and depicters have elected to work with non-union talent.  They are first-rate coaches and narrators.  There must be an entry-level area for introduction to voice-over jobs, and their availability.

At Voice Masters of America, we do it through training in proficiency on the teleprompter, ear prompter, audition monologue, and voice training.  Why not strive for perfection?  We can prepare the qualified candidate for difficult and diversified “voice-over jobs.”  It is not  a requirement of Voice Masters that any of our candidates for voice-over jobs obtain training from us.  Most of our depicters are established pros that are well ahead of the curve.

However, it is out unshakeable belief that a highly qualified audio director can help the voice actor achieve that extra push that will get them over the top. That, in our opinion, is the real world of obtaining “voice-over jobs.”  Both the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) and the American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (AFTRA) have casting hotlines. Our site will continuously update locations and casting information on “voice-over jobs.”
